CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — Everyone deserves a special day of recognition — especially mothers.
The Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library will host its third annual Mother's Day Tea on the first floor of the Waldomore Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is free to attend but registration ended Friday at 5 p.m., said Erica Perry, CHPL children's librarian and organizer of the Mother's Day Tea.
Many kinds of tea will be served at the event including black tea, Chai, green, honey and chamomile, Perry said.
For those who don't like tea, orange juice, apple juice and water will also be served.
Additionally, a brunch consisting of chicken salad croissants, egg salad croissants, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, scones, cupcakes, Mediterranean salad and fresh fruit will be served.
Caden and Allyssa Karge will provide musical entertainment during brunch.
The event is friendly to mothers and children of all ages.
"There are a lot of younger moms who bring their children," Perry said. "We do have a lady who brings her mother who has been attending for the last three years and last year she turned 98."
A similar event for Father's Day is planned for the Waldomore lawn, Perry said.
CHPL will also host the last day of their annual book sale Saturday. Books will be sold by the bagful, at a cost of $5 per bag.
"This is the big sale, the big money maker in three days, almost as much as we would make the rest of the months [combined]," said Friends of Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library Secretary Cecelia Reid.
Funds from the sale will help pay the salaries of library employees not covered by the library budget, Reid said.
