In today’s edition, you’ll find a 64-page special section honoring the winners of the Best of Harrison 2024 contest, which we celebrated last Sunday with special awards presentations at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center.
For the sixth straight year, we were excited to bring together such a strong showing of the businesses and people who help to make Harrison County a great place to live, work and play.
As a West Virginia-owned company with roots dating back to 1861, WV News and its flagship publication The Exponent Telegram are proud to give residents a chance to decide on these awards, with online voting determining the outcomes.
How serious is the competition? More than 26,000 nominations were made of businesses and individuals. And more than 525,000 votes were cast.
Some of the categories saw fierce competition, with the final vote totals showing 20 or fewer votes separating first, second and third.
That level of participation demonstrates the loyalty and support that residents have for those businesses and individuals nominated, not only for the top finalists and eventual winner, but for all those nominated as well.
It also shows the level of effort and commitment these businesses, organizations and individuals put into their effort to provide the best to their clients and customers.
We are always thrilled to see those who attend the event, as well as those dignitaries who join us to honor the award winners. We thank Harrison County Commission President Susan Thomas, Commissioner David Hinkle, Clarksburg Mayor Jim Malfregeot and City Manager Tiffany Fell, NCWV Airport Director Rick Rock and Harrison Schools Superintendent Dora Stutler for being on hand to honor these outstanding businesses and individuals.
And we thank the thousands of people who made the time to participate, to nominate, to vote and most importantly to support the effort.
We know that those who attend the annual awards show leave with a sense of optimism and excitement about the future of Harrison County. We hope in reading today’s special edition that you, too, can sense the pride and dedication that all of those involved feel in helping to make our community a better place to live.
We applaud all of those involved and look forward to an even bigger event in 2025. Book the date now: March 23, 2025 at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center.
