George Hill Lough

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2014, Nancy Jane Lough, whom he wed on July 18, 1959.

George is survived by his three daughters, Teresa Turner of Arbovale, WV, Melissa Starkey and her husband Joseph of Dublin, VA, and Monica Myers and her husband Scott of West Milford; 7 grandchildren, Justin Turner, Wyatt Turner, Jannessa Turner, Zain Creamer, Kierra Myers, Landon Myers, and Brennen Myers; 5 great-grandchildren, Stoney Turner, Amara Creamer, Addie Creamer, Hadley Turner, and Adeline Wright; 3 sisters, Sue Steiding, Regina Anderson, and June Boles; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Darrell Turner, and 13 siblings.

Mr. Lough was a graduate of Webster Springs High School, Class of 1957. He spent his career as a forklift operator and retired from the Union Carbide Corporation. He loved sports, was competitive and enjoyed winning at horseshoes, checkers, ping-pong, and softball. He was considered “THE LEGEND” at football. He liked to camp at Holly River and would relax while fishing.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Saturday from 2- 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Bergoo Baptist Church, 3021 Bergoo Road, Webster Springs, WV, 26288 on Monday, March 25, 2024, at noon with Pastor Bennie Cowger officiating, where Mr. Lough will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Meadowland Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.
