Staying hydrated is a critical part of staying healthy. Our bodies need adequate water to function properly. Sometimes drinking just plain water gets boring, but the addition of cucumber adds extra flavor and health benefits.
Cucumber water is a great alternative to sugary sodas and sports drinks. It’s a refreshing way to cut calories while hydrating. Cucumbers are a good source of antioxidants, which help prevent and delay cell damage.
Cucumbers are also rich in Vitamin C, beta carotene, manganese, molybdenum, potassium, Vitamin B-5, and Vitamin K. So, save a few of those slices for a snack to enjoy alongside the cucumber water.
Cucumber Water
1 medium to large regular cucumber, sliced
2 quarts of water
3-4 cups of ice
Slice the cucumber into about 1/8-inch-thick slices. This will yield roughly 25 slices. Add the ice, water, and cucumber slices to a large pitcher. Stir gently.
Allow to sit for at least 15 minutes before enjoying. It can be refrigerated for 2-3 days. The cucumber flavor gets stronger the longer the water sits prior to serving. Enjoy!
