Grafton girls, East Fairmont boys track teams claim wins in small-meet at McKinney Field

East Fairmont brought home runner-up team honors in girls competition, amassing 140 points on four event wins.

Lewis County (119) finished in third, Lincoln (67) in fourth, Philip Barbour (31) in fifth and Bridgeport (7) in sixth to round out the remainder of the final girls team results.

Grafton’s Hadley Horne highlighted a dominant day for the Bearcat girls, earning two individual wins, setting a school record in the process.

After initially breaking the Bearcat girls’ 300-meter hurdles record earlier in the month back in the Harry Green Invitational at 47.91 seconds, Horne out-did herself, posting a time of 46.72 seconds to coast to the win on Tuesday.

Horne’s second individual win came in the long jump, turning in a leap of 15 feet, one inch, to best her closest competition in Lewis County’s Autumn Donnellan (14 feet, three inches) by nearly a full-foot.

Grafton’s Emily Viani chalked up a win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:34.75 while Lincoln’s Hannah Rowan (2:35.68) claimed a second-place finish.

Grafton’s Jennah Charlton earned a win in pole vault, clearing the 8-foot even mark, besting her closest competition in Lewis Countuy’s Kyra Hamilton (7-foot even) by a full-foot.

Lewis County’s Emma Pinkney turned in a throw of 36 feet, eight inches to edge out Grafton’s Jerra Halbritter (33 feet, 10 inches).

Halbritter rebounded to claim the Bearcat girls final individual event win of the day by delivering a toss covering 101 feet, six inches, topping Pinkney (100 feet, three inches) for the top-spot in discus to avenge her earlier loss.

The Bearcat girls sealed the team win by chalking up a pair of relay event victories.

The 4x400-meter relay saw Grafton’s Layna Grassi, Riley Countryman, Bailey Weaver and Viani post a time of 4:26.58 to take the top-spot.

Grafton also claimed a win in the 4x800-meter relay as Grassi, Weaver, Natalee Cartwright and Viani crossed the finish line in a combined time of 1:12.95.

East Fairmont brought home runner-up team honors in girls competition, amassing 140 points on four event wins.

East Fairmont claimed the top-two spots in the 100-meter dash with Breeona Pheasant (13.08 seconds) edging out teammate Taylor Nicholas (13.54) who settled for runner-up honors.

Pheasant and Nicholas again found themselves atop the leaderboards in a thrilling finish in the 200-meter dash.

In the end, the result remained the same with Pheasant (27.58) winning in a photo finish with Nicholas (27.59) to once again take runner-up honors.

Together Pheasant, Jillian Perry, Danika Plum and Kyra Hamilton to form East Fairmont’s 4x100-meter relay team which posted a combined time of 55.12 seconds to secure the win while Grafton’s Alizae Runner, Ellie Royce, Isabella Jones and Callie Copeland (55.74) earned runner-up honors.

East Fairmont’s final win came in the 4x102.5-meter shuttle hurdle relay, turning in a combined time of 1:12.95 to edge out Lincoln’s Olivia Hayes, Aleisa Hayhurst, Sarah Coffman and Keely Stire (1:14.60) for the top spot.

Lincoln’s Hannah Rowan won the girls 400-meter dash, posting a time of 1:00.36 while Lewis County’s Ella Pinkney (1:01.95) earned runner-up honors.

Lincoln’s Stire earned an individual win in the 100-meter hurdles, clearing the obstacles in her path in 17.38 seconds, holding off Philip Barbour’s Preslea Miller (17.69) for the victory.

In the 4x200-meter relay, Lincoln’s Emery Riley, Hayhurst, Coffman and Rowan combined to cross the finish line in 1:52.70, holding of the Lewis County pairing of Donnellan, Brianna Cermak, Payton Goodwin and Ella Pinkney (1:53.55) for the win.

Kendra Thompson collected the Lewis County girls’ only other victory of the meet, scoring a win in the high jump after clearing the four-foot, 10-inch mark.

Philip Barbour’s Lilly Miller claimed the Colt girls lone win of the day, turning in a time of 6:04.82 to edge out runner-up and teammate Kayla Baker (6:10.79) to take the top-spot in the 1600-meter run.

Lewis County (119) in third, Lincoln (67) in fourth, Philip Barbour (31) and Bridgeport (7) in sixth rounded out the remainder of the final girls team results.

The East Fairmont was dominant in boy competition, winning 10 of the 18 events scored to run away with the team win with 198 points.

Lewis County (115) earned runner-up honors with Lincoln (89) in third, Grafton (69) in fourth, Philip Barbour (41) in fifth, Bridgeport (34) in sixth and Heritage Christian (1) in seventh rounded out the remainder of the final girls team results.

East Fairmont’s Lucas Messenger got the day started on a positive note for the Bees, crossing the finish line in 11.60 seconds to edge out Grafton’s Jaxson Hall (11.63) for a win in the 100-meter dash.

East Fairmont’s Donovan Childs crossed the finish line in 4:55.92, running away with the win in the 1600-meter run, besting his closest competition in Lewis County’s Brody Skinner (10:44.48) by nearly a full three seconds.

Childs went on to chalk up a second individual win in the 3200-meter run, crossing the finish line in just 10:39.62, again forcing Lewis County’s Skinner (10.44.48) to settle for runner-up honors.

The 110-meter hurdles saw East Fairmont claim the top-three spots with Jaden Dawson (17.51) taking the win, CJ Brandli (17.56) earning runner-up honors and Ryder Biggie (19.80) finishing third.

Dawson went on to collect a second individual victory in the 300-meter, recording a time of 42.91 seconds to once again best Brandi (44.25) for the top spot.

Dawson capped off the day with a third event win, claiming the top spot in the high jump after clearing the five-foot, eight-inch mark.

East Fairmont’s Mason Blauvelt won on pole vault after clearing the 11-foot even mark.

East Fairmont’s Dakota Dammeyer capped off a great all-around performance from the Bee boys by sweeping the day’s throwing events.

Dammeyer turned in a throw covering 55 feet, 11 inches to take the top spot in shot put before completing the sweep by delivering a throw of 177 feet, one inch to win discus.

In the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay, East Fairmont’s pairing of Blauvelt, Cole Vangilder, Brandli and Dawson chalked up a win with a combined time of 1:06.74).

Grafton’s Hall scored a win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.63 seconds with East Fairmont’s Gavin Murphy (23.54) earning runner-up honors.

Grafton’s MJ Niggemyer claimed a win in the 800-meter run with at9me of 2:06.52 with Lewis County’s Cooper Burkhammer earning runner-up honors with a time of 2:13.68.

Grafton’s Tyler Clemm, Hall, Jonathan Maier and Niggemyer combined to record a time of 3:45.13 to earn a win in the 4x400-meter relay.

Grafton’s Niggemyer, Clemm, Maier and Bryce Isner combined to post a time of 9:04.68 to coast to a win in the 4x800-meter relay.

Lincoln’s Brody Anderson, Conner Rice, Preston Plan and Braiden Minor combined to post a time of 47.94 seconds to win the 4x100-meter relay.

Lincoln’s Anderson, Rice, Gerald Parado and Minor combined to cross the finish line in 1:38.21 to collect the Cougar boys second relay event win of the day in the 4x200-meter relay.

Lewis County’s Carder Holden recorded a time of 52.21 seconds to chalk up a win in the 400-meter dash while Grafton’s Niggemyer (54.19 seconds) earned runner-up honors.

Lewis County’s Jorrin Baxter won the long jump after turning in a leap covering 19 feet, four 1/2 inches to best his closest compeititon in Lincoln’s Hunter Burdette (16 feet, 11 inches) by over three-feet.
